More pilots than ever before took to the starting line at the legendary Days of Speed and Thunder in Rothenburg from 16 to 20 May 2023.

34 pilots took to the runways at the EDBR in Rothenburg in somewhat cool, but favourable winds. Already on Tuesday the first pulso flights were carried out and on Wednesday a pulsejet model took off every 7.6 minutes. On Friday the event continued at a similar pace and on Saturday there were another 34 flights to watch. In total, 157 pulso flights were presented at the 16th Days of Speed and Thunder.

The highlight this year was Jiri Novacec with a Heinkel with a 140 tube and 200cm wingspan and a length of 250cm. His Heinkel HE-162 weighs 14.5kg and the tube has a thrust of 16kg – very nicely scale-built in 1:3.5 scale. Also worth mentioning is the pilot camp of the Dutch: Besides the Jess brothers, Luuk Zegers and Jinx Vries impressed this time with perfect duo flights.

There was a great atmosphere and we were happy that our friend and main organiser Hubert Leubner was able to join us again this year! Our thanks goes to Volker Wollert for the flawless preparation of the airfield.

So it was a thoroughly successful event again this year, with fun had by all. We look forward to next year’s event!
